planarTECH announced that it has licensed an a process for production of MoS2 from Columbia University, and delivered its first MoS2-capable CVD system to the University of Oxford.
planarTECH has recently branched out into process and equipment for other 2D materials that are complementary to its activities in the graphene market. In early April, planarTECH and Columbia University entered into a license agreement that will allow planarTECH to provide comprehensive training to its customers in the growth of monolayer MoS2 by CVD using the methods developed by Prof. Jim Hone in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Columbia University. planarTECH has also just delivered its first MoS2-capable CVD system to the lab of Prof. Jongmin Kim at the University of Oxford.
MoS2 is a complementary 2D material to graphene that – in monolayer form – exhibits a direct bandgap and photoluminescence properties.
