IDTechEx has published a report on graphene technology, the market, and players, predicting $100 million in sales of graphene in 2018. This prediction agrees with the BCC report which we highlighted last week, although the earlier report extends to 2022, when it predicts sales to reach nearly $1 billion.
The current report from IDTechEx examines applications in high-performance composites, smart packaging, RFID, energy storage including supercapacitors and lithium ion batteries, sensors, touch screens and others. The report is intended for a broad audience, including graphene investors. It is interesting to note that IDTechEx earlier this year published a report which predicted the sales of graphene and carbon nanotube devices together to reach over $63 billion by 2022. The earlier report predicted graphene transistors and other components to be commercially available by 2016.
