TAIPEI, Taiwan – Two years after the first announcements made by Vittoria on having acquired rights to use Graphene the company’s first product made with this wonder-material has arrived. The Thai-Italian company launched Graphene enhanced full carbon rims at Taipei Cycle after their presentation in Italy last October.
The Graphene additive boosts the carbon properties and allows a much improved performance of the Vittoria Qurano full carbon rims. The benefits of applying Graphene to carbon fiber rims are, according to Vittoria, a 50% increase of the rims lateral stiffness; an up to 30% improvement of the standard carbon properties; a 20% strength increase of spoke holes and 15 – 30% temperature reduction.
Tyres with Graphene
Next September Vittoria is to launch its first tyres made with the Graphene additive. According to Vittoria’s CEO Rudi Campagne it brings lower rolling resistance, better grip and air-tightness for outer tyres. “It could even be possible to bring all tyres to tubeless levels as Nanographyte is the much needed breakthrough in bicycle tyres.”
